Day 1: Overnight Flight

Your adventure takes you through rolling landscapes, savory wines, delicious food and stunning architecture...this can only be Italy.

Day 2: Florence, Italy - Tour Begins

Welcome to Florence, the “Cradle of the Italian Renaissance.” This evening join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner featuring local specialties.

Day 3: Florence

A cultural tour showcases the beautiful city of Florence. A local Florentine guide highlights many of the city’s priceless treasures, including the Piazza del Duomo, which is the center of religious life in medieval Florence; see the impressive Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the spectacular gilded bronze doors of the Baptistery dedicated to St. John. Spend the afternoon exploring this fascinating city on your own. Perhaps you will spend time at one of Florence’s many cafés or immerse yourself in the Tuscan culture at one of the city’s fabulous museums…the choice is yours.

Day 4: Florence

Start your day with a trip through the Tuscan countryside. Arrive at a historic winery with its very own 12th-century castle in the heart of the Chianti region. Learn about Tuscany’s famous wines, enjoy a tasting and savor a lunch filled with regional specialties. Later, return to Florence where the remainder of your day is at leisure.

Day 5: Florence - Lucca - Genoa

Your first stop today is the medieval city of Lucca, encircled by 16th-century Renaissance walls. A local expert will guide you on an informative tour of the area featuring a visit to the Cathedral of San Martino and the Piazza Napoleone. Continue on to Genoa, known for its balanced mix of old-world history and new world sophistication. Join a local guide for a stroll along a maze of typical narrow streets and squares viewing Santissima Annunziata del Vastato; Via Garibaldi, a UNESCO World Heritage site; Columbus House; Ducal Palace and Duomo di San Lorenzo. Spend the remainder of your afternoon independently exploring this fascinating city.

Day 6: Genoa - Portofino - Cinque Terre - Genoa

Travel to the seaside town of Santa Margherita Ligure for a boat ride* to glamorous Portofino. Take in the town’s colorful harbor, dotted with fishing boats and yachts set against a backdrop of pastel-colored buildings. Continue to the Cinque Terre and spend the day exploring its rugged coastline dotted with terraced vineyards. Travel by rail through this nearly inaccessible string of fishing villages nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean. Your Tour Manager is on hand to help plan the remainder of your day and make the most of your time here.

Day 7: Genoa - Lake Orta - Stresa

Depart Genoa for the lakes region. Visit Lake Orta and take a boat to Isola di San Giulio. Stroll the grounds of this charming island with its working convent and experience the outdoor cafés and shops of this lakeside resort. Conclude your day in Stresa, on the shores of Lago Maggiore.

Day 8: Stresa

Today you choose which included feature you’d like to participate in. You may choose to cruise on scenic Lago Maggiore, passing small islands, elaborate villas and historic palaces before pausing to visit the town of Pallanza. Or, perhaps you would prefer to visit an ancient village nestled in the mountains where you stop at a local farm to sample their artisanally-produced cheeses paired with the region’s delicious wines. The choice is yours! This evening, a boat transports you to your farewell dinner on Isola dei Pescatori, the most picturesque of the Borromean Islands.

Day 9: Stresa - Tour Ends

Passport & Visa Information

Certain countries require a minimum of 6 months passport validity. You are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for details.


We recommend that our clients travelling abroad take a photocopy of their passport and applicable visas. It should be packed separately from your actual passport and visa. We also recommend leaving a copy at home with your emergency contact.

Destination Facts & Stats


An adaptor (which changes the physical plug) and/or converter (which changes the electric current) are necessary if you plan to use an appliance with voltage different from the standard within the country you are visiting. Please note, if your appliance has dual voltage you may still need an adaptor for the plug. When packing your electronic items for travel, please review the converter electric current level to make sure it is the same or greater than the items you are planning on using. If you plan on utilizing or transporting a sleep apnea machine, please remember to pack an extension cord and adapter plug to ensure proper function.

Single accommodations are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

Most shops and businesses in Italy are closed on Sundays and on national/religious holidays.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing Marriott Vacation Club airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at prescheduled times.

*The boat ride to Portofino operates on a weather permitting basis. When the weather is uncooperative, you will still visit Portofino, but you will travel there by public transport bus service.

Air passengers will depart from Milan airport. All transfers will depart from Stresa for the Milan airport.

Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

Due to flight schedules, you may require an early morning departure from the hotel on the last day of the tour. Return flights should not be booked prior to 10:00 a.m.


This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking/hiking/biking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven/rocky walking surfaces should be expected.
