Day 1: Scottsdale, Arizona - Tour Begins

Join us on a journey through five of America’s most splendid national parks. Your tour opens in Arizona where you will enjoy a stay in the world-famous resort town of Scottsdale. This evening, join your fellow travelers at a welcome dinner with a cowboy flair!

Today dinner will be included.

Day 2: Scottsdale - Sedona - Lake Powell

Begin the day with a visit to the artists' colony of Sedona where you will see the amazing rock formations change hue with each turn in the road. Later today you arrive at Lake Powell.

Day 3: Lake Powell - Grand Canyon

Embark on a delightful breakfast cruise on scenic Lake Powell. Next, travel to Carl Hayden Visitors Center and look out over Glen Canyon Dam and see to the end of Lake Powell. Afterward, travel through Marble Canyon before arriving at the spectacular Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Upon arrival, relax at one of the many public seating areas overlooking the immense and colorful canyon. Take a moment to reflect as you stand in awe of this iconic natural treasure. Before dinner you may wish to take a short hike to explore the area. Tonight’s dinner takes place in the historic Grand Canyon Lodge which offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere with magnificent views overlooking the rim of the canyon.

Day 4: Grand Canyon - Zion National Park

Today’s destination is the red and white sandstone cliffs of Zion National Park.* In sheer magnitude and color, Zion is very likely one of the most awe-inspiring national parks in the world. It’s your choice! Enjoy the view from the floor of the canyon as you ride along on the Zion tram; or, embark on a leisurely hike with your Tour Manager along the Lower Emerald Pool Trail to see the lower pool and waterfalls.

Day 5: Zion National Park - Bryce Canyon - Salt Lake City

En route to Salt Lake City, we will stop at Bryce Canyon National Park*, truly one of the most spectacular scenic wonders of the world. The formations within the park, called Hoodoos, are the creation of wind and water erosion over eons of time. Iron oxidizing within the rock causes the natural orange and red hues that color these formations. A drive north takes you to Salt Lake City, the “City of the Saints,” for a 2-night stay.

Day 6: Salt Lake City

Enjoy a tour of Salt Lake City featuring the Great Salt Lake, the State Capitol and the residential district. Then, take the rest of the day to relax or independently explore. Perhaps you will choose to explore Temple Square: this beautifully landscaped 10-acre plot of ground in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City is one of Utah's most visited attractions; the centerpiece of the square is the 6-spired granite Salt Lake Temple, and adjacent to this imposing edifice is the domed Tabernacle, home of the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the great Tabernacle organ.

Day 7: Salt Lake City - Jackson Hole, Wyoming

En route to Wyoming you will see the majestic Bear Lake Summit. Later, arrive in the cowboy town of Jackson Hole.

Day 8: Jackson Hole

The day is yours to enjoy Jackson Hole. Optional activities include shopping, canoeing, hiking and river-rafting trips. Of course, your Tour Manager will be ready with suggestions. Tonight, experience a fun-filled evening of cowboy entertainment and a traditional chuck wagon** dinner.

Day 9: Jackson Hole - Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks

From Jackson Hole, pass through Grand Teton National Park. Towering more than a mile above the valley of Jackson Hole, the Grand Teton rises to 13,770 feet. Twelve Teton peaks reach above 12,000 feet and support a dozen mountain glaciers. The Teton Range is the youngest range in the Rockies and displays some of North America's oldest rocks. Later, arrive at the amazing Yellowstone National Park for an overnight stay at your lodge nestled in the heart of this magnificent park. Explore the incredible sights of Yellowstone with a local expert. One of the many highlights is the world-famous Old Faithful Geyser, a fountain of steam that rises more than 60 feet in the air.

Day 10: Yellowstone - Cody - Sheridan

A delightful day of sightseeing begins with a trip along Lake Yellowstone and over Sylvan Pass. From the mountains to the prairies, the scenery is simply amazing. As you pass through Cody, a stop will be made at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, a tribute to one of the most colorful figures of the Old West, Buffalo Bill Cody. Before turning in for the night in Sheridan, drive through the incredible Bighorn Mountains and journey through the territory of the Great Sioux Nation.

Day 11: Sheridan - Rapid City, South Dakota

Visit Crazy Horse Memorial, a monument dedicated to the Native Americans of this great land. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the Native American Cultural Center to learn about their culture and customs. Here, Native Americans discuss the movements of their dances and the significance of wearing different feathers and clothes. Later, see one of the country’s most famous landmarks, Mount Rushmore, whose four figures carved in stone represent the first 150 years of American history. At tonight’s farewell dinner you will meet a local Lakota Native American and learn all about their fascinating way of life, past and present.

Day 12: Rapid City - Tour Ends

Your tour comes to a close, leaving you with many wonderful memories.

If your interests stretch beyond the beauty of downtown Jackson Hole, we have a special treat for you! Swing your own paddle for a thrilling ride through the white waters of the Snake River. An experienced guide conducts the trip, and you provide the paddle power. This unforgettable addition to your vacation is an experience you will talk about for many years to come. Lunch is included. This is a class #3 rafting trip (beginner to intermediate).

Wildlife Scenic Float with Lunch $80

Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Snake River on a gentle float trip. Your guide will paddle while pointing out interesting sights along the way. The trip is a great way to see the beauty of the river and the geology that forms the Snake River. The river is home to a variety of waterfowl and native animals including moose, deer and river otters. It is also the nesting area of our nation’s symbol, the bald eagle, as well as ospreys. You will enjoy an included picnic lunch.

Then discover your roots as you find out that “You’re the link to the past” – the connection to your ancestors. But how much do you know about them? Were they royalty or common folk...or both? Learn more about your ancestors and you’ll learn more about yourself. Visit the Family Search Center to find out more. Then, enjoy dinner on the 10th floor overlooking the city.

Rodeo & Dinner in a Cowboy Town $90

Wow! The reason you visit the real West is to see a rodeo in person! Sit back and watch the fun unfold as all ages compete in chasing ties on calves' tails, ropers, barrel racing and a lot more. Enjoy watching the cowgirls hone their skills and have a little fun. It's a tradition that has its roots in the real Old West. Dinner is included first at a great local restaurant.

Passport & Visa Information

Certain countries require a minimum of 6 months passport validity. You are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for details.

IMPORTANT

We recommend that our clients travelling abroad take a photocopy of their passport and applicable visas. It should be packed separately from your actual passport and visa. We also recommend leaving a copy at home with your emergency contact.

Destination Facts & Stats

Electricity

An adaptor (which changes the physical plug) and/or converter (which changes the electric current) are necessary if you plan to use an appliance with voltage different from the standard within the country you are visiting. Please note, if your appliance has dual voltage you may still need an adaptor for the plug. When packing your electronic items for travel, please review the converter electric current level to make sure it is the same or greater than the items you are planning on using. If you plan on utilizing or transporting a sleep apnea machine, please remember to pack an extension cord and adapter plug to ensure proper function.

Single accommodations are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing our airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at pre-scheduled times.

This tour includes traveling to high altitudes (approx. 10,000 ft.) and may not be suitable for some clients. We suggest you consult your physician if you have any concerns.

*Visits to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park may operate on alternate days and times depending on the time of year. **The chuck wagon experience is available from Memorial Day (late May) through the last Saturday in September. During all other times, dinner will be substituted at a local restaurant.

Air passengers will arrive into Phoenix, AZ airport. All transfers will depart from Phoenix, AZ for Scottsdale.

Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

Pace

This tour requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven grounds and cobblestone streets.
