Day 1: Overnight Flight

Your Italian odyssey begins with an overnight flight. On this dramatic journey, enjoy walking tours that offer up-close looks at Italy's most charming towns. Along the way we will visit magnificent historic monuments, marvel at stunning architecture and sample the mouth-watering cuisine and wines this part of the world is famous for.

Day 2: Rome, Italy - Tour Begins

Ciao Italia! Your tour opens in Rome. Meet your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner in a local restaurant. Join in an interactive and fun presentation on Italy’s wines given by the restaurant’s sommelier. Indulge in a traditional four-course meal paired with some of the country’s finest wines.

Day 3: Rome

Today, enjoy a tour of Classical Rome viewing the Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus and the Arch of Constantine. Visit one of the world’s great landmarks, the famed Colosseum, where gladiators and exotic animals once entertained the Roman crowd. The remainder of the day is yours to explore this historic city independently.

Day 4: Rome - Pompeii - Vietri sul Mare

Journey south today. Stop at a local winery at the foot of Mount Vesuvius to savor the famous Lacryma Christi wines. Afterwards, experience the excavated ruins of Pompeii which lie in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. Soak in the history when exploring the preserved buildings of a typical Roman town 2,000 years ago. A local guide will provide an in-depth view of this remarkable archaeological site. This evening you’ll arrive in the Amalfi Coast.

Day 5: Vietri sul Mare - Paestum - Vietri sul Mare

Discover one of Italy’s most beloved products during a tour of a local buffalo milk mozzarella factory. Your day continues as you step back in time at Paestum. Meet your local guide who will lead you through some of the best-preserved Greek temples outside of Greece. End your day with dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Vietri sul Mare - Sorrento - Amalfi Coast Drive - Vietri sul Mare

We begin in Sorrento with time to discover this lovely seaside resort town on your own. Then, continue your adventure experiencing the treasures of the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. Make a special stop in the charming town of Amalfi where you will have time to explore. Then it’s off to Minori where you have the opportunity to sample some of the local specialties at a family-owned limoncello factory. You’ll also enjoy a typical Italian afternoon break at a local café and pastry shop. Your evening is at leisure.

Day 7: Vietri sul Mare - Naples - Rome

This morning we proceed to colorful and vibrant Naples for a guided tour of one of Italy’s oldest and largest cities. Later, return to Rome and join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner celebrating the end of a marvelous trip to Italy.

Passport & Visa Information

Certain countries require a minimum of 6 months passport validity. You are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for details.

IMPORTANT

We recommend that our clients travelling abroad take a photocopy of their passport and applicable visas. It should be packed separately from your actual passport and visa. We also recommend leaving a copy at home with your emergency contact.

Destination Facts & Stats

Electricity

An adaptor (which changes the physical plug) and/or converter (which changes the electric current) are necessary if you plan to use an appliance with voltage different from the standard within the country you are visiting. Please note, if your appliance has dual voltage you may still need an adaptor for the plug. When packing your electronic items for travel, please review the converter electric current level to make sure it is the same or greater than the items you are planning on using. If you plan on utilizing or transporting a sleep apnea machine, please remember to pack an extension cord and adapter plug to ensure proper function.

Most shops and businesses in Italy are closed on Sundays and on national/religious holidays.

When reserving single accommodations, be advised that single rooms in Italy are often smaller in size.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing Marriott Vacation Club airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at prescheduled times.

Some of the most unique sightseeing can mean accessing locations that restrict motorcoaches, especially in historic areas. For your comfort, we recommend bringing walking shoes.

Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.
