Day 1: Overnight Flight

Your Italian odyssey begins with an overnight flight. On this dramatic journey enjoy walking tours that offer up-close looks at Italy's most charming towns. Along the way we visit magnificent historic monuments, marvel at stunning architecture and sample the mouth-watering cuisine and wines this part of the world is famous for.

Day 2: Rome, Italy - Tour Begins

Ciao Italia! Your tour opens in Rome. This evening, get to know your fellow travelers during a festive welcome dinner at a local restaurant where regional foods, fun Italian melodies and fine Italian wines kick off your adventure.

Day 3: Rome

Today enjoy a tour of Classical Rome viewing the Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus and the Arch of Constantine. Visit one of the world’s great landmarks, the famed Colosseum, where gladiators and exotic animals once entertained the Roman crowd. The remainder of the day is yours to explore this historical city independently.

Day 4: Rome - Assisi - Florence

Ease your way into the local culture as your Tour Manager teaches you a few key phrases of the native language. Then, travel north to the medieval walled city of Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, patron saint of Italy. A local expert guides you on a tour of the magnificent Basilica of St. Francis and the historic old city. Continue on to another amazing city, Florence, your home for the next four nights.

Day 5: Florence

A cultural tour in the “Cradle of the Italian Renaissance” showcases the beautiful city of Florence. A local Florentine guide highlights many of the city’s priceless treasures, including the Piazza del Duomo, which is the center of religious life in medieval Florence. You will also see the impressive Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the impressive gilded bronze doors of the Baptistery dedicated to St. John. Next, a winery visit showcases the wine cellar, family estate and stunning Tuscan views. This evening, delve into the local culture as you participate in a cooking class where you will learn the art of Tuscan cuisine.

Day 6: Florence

Your day is at leisure to discover this fascinating city. Perhaps you will choose to spend a relaxing day at one of Florence’s many cafés, explore the city independently or immerse yourself in the Tuscan culture. Or, you may participate in an optional tour to discover the hilltop village of San Gimignano and the mystical city of Siena, two of the most picturesque places in Tuscany.

Day 7: Florence

The day is yours for independent exploration! Spend a relaxing day exploring Florence on your own: make a visit to a pizzeria, shop in the local markets or visit the famous Academy Museum. Or, perhaps you’ll partake in an optional journey into the rich world of Italian coffee. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner celebrating the end of a memorable trip to the unforgettable country of Italy.

Travel out into the countryside on an adventure that takes you to two of Tuscany’s greatest towns. Begin in San Gimignano, a walled medieval hill town, to discover how Roman and Gothic influences have come together to create a distinctive style. Famous for its architecture, the town’s fourteen medieval towers create the impression that you are entering a “Medieval Manhattan." Embark on an expert-led tour for a stroll and exploration of the local culture along Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Cisterna. Your journey continues through Tuscany’s low-lying hills and olive groves to the mystical city of Siena. You will be delighted by its narrow Gothic streets, magnificent palaces and historic Piazza del Campo. Passport & Visa Information

Certain countries require a minimum of 6 months passport validity. You are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for details.

IMPORTANT

We recommend that our clients travelling abroad take a photocopy of their passport and applicable visas. It should be packed separately from your actual passport and visa. We also recommend leaving a copy at home with your emergency contact.

Destination Facts & Stats

Electricity

An adaptor (which changes the physical plug) and/or converter (which changes the electric current) are necessary if you plan to use an appliance with voltage different from the standard within the country you are visiting. Please note, if your appliance has dual voltage you may still need an adaptor for the plug. When packing your electronic items for travel, please review the converter electric current level to make sure it is the same or greater than the items you are planning on using. If you plan on utilizing or transporting a sleep apnea machine, please remember to pack an extension cord and adapter plug to ensure proper function.

Most shops and businesses in Italy are closed on Sundays and on national/religious holidays.

When reserving single accommodations, be advised that single rooms in Italy are often smaller in size.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing Marriott Vacation Club airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at prescheduled times.

Most national museums in Florence, including the Uffizi Gallery and the Academy, are closed on Mondays. If visiting the Academy Museum falls on a Monday on your itinerary, reservations will be made to visit the museum on Sunday upon arrival in Florence.

Some of the most unique sightseeing can mean accessing locations that restrict motorcoaches, especially in historic areas. For your comfort, we recommend bringing walking shoes.

Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

Pace

This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.
