Day 1: Overnight Flight

Feel the vibrant energy of England, hear the unique sounds of Scotland and see the rolling countryside of Wales on a trip that combines the exploration of dramatic history and natural wonders.

Day 2: London, England - Tour Begins

Your tour opens in London, the cosmopolitan and historic capital of England. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner at a traditional English pub.

Day 3: London

This morning, see the quintessential sights of London with your local guide. View the Tower of London, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and the changing of the guard (if held).* Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to independently explore this iconic city.

Day 4: London - Train Journey - York

Your day begins at London King’s Cross, one of England’s most historic railway stations. Board a train and be whisked away to the medieval city of York. Sit back and relax on your journey through stunning countryside. Upon arriving in York, join a local guide for a walking tour of this remarkable city. See the famous York Minster and walk on the “Shambles,” a quaint, narrow street that appears today almost as it did during the Middle Ages. Here you’ll find great shopping and a street that is so narrow in parts that you can almost reach both sides with your outstretched arms. Tonight, stay within the city’s historic walls.

Day 5: York - Borders Region, Scotland - Edinburgh

Head north through the rolling fields on your way to bonnie (“lovely” in Scottish) Scotland. Stretching across the country you will find Hadrian’s Wall which once marked the northern border of the Roman Empire. Stop to see this ancient fortification that was begun in A.D. 122 to protect Roman Britain from the tribes of Scotland. Next, drive through Scotland’s Borders region before arriving in Edinburgh, the "Athens of the North." Discover Scotland's exciting capital city which is rich in beauty and culture. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Edinburgh

Today it’s your choice! You may choose to get acquainted with this regal city on a locally guided panoramic city tour via coach. Or, for a different perspective, perhaps you’d prefer to join a local expert to explore the city on foot. Both tours include visits to Edinburgh Castle, home of the Scottish Crown Jewels; and the Palace of Holyroodhouse,** the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh and former home of Mary, Queen of Scots. The remainder of the day is free to independently explore the city.

Day 7: Edinburgh - Lake District, England - Ruthin Castle, Wales

Our final stop in Scotland is at the border town of Gretna Green, where generations of runaway couples came to be married. Later, return to England and travel through the picturesque Lake District. In the heart of the Lake District, visit the charming village of Grasmere, home of the poet William Wordsworth. End your day with an overnight stay in beautiful Ruthin Castle, situated in the north of Wales.

Day 8: Wales - Stratford-upon-Avon, England

Journey to Stratford-upon-Avon, your home for the next two nights and birthplace of William Shakespeare, England’s most famous playwright. Step back in time as we visit Shakespeare’s birthplace. Afterward, it’s your choice! You may choose to tour Anne Hathaway's thatch-roofed cottage, the childhood home of the author's wife; or, perhaps you will choose to enjoy a leisurely cruise along the picturesque Avon River.

Day 9: Stratford - Stonehenge - Cotswolds - Stratford

Complete your visit to Britain with a trip to the mystical and fascinating Stonehenge before traveling through some of England’s most beautiful countryside. Explore the picturesque villages of the Cotswolds region. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a private farewell dinner at Hall’s Croft, a 400-year-old Shakespeare-family home. As traditionally costumed actors perform some of the playwright’s most renowned scenes, toast the end of a wonderful journey.

Passport & Visa Information

Certain countries require a minimum of 6 months passport validity. You are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for details.

IMPORTANT

We recommend that our clients travelling abroad take a photocopy of their passport and applicable visas. It should be packed separately from your actual passport and visa. We also recommend leaving a copy at home with your emergency contact.

Destination Facts & Stats

Electricity

An adaptor (which changes the physical plug) and/or converter (which changes the electric current) are necessary if you plan to use an appliance with voltage different from the standard within the country you are visiting. Please note, if your appliance has dual voltage you may still need an adaptor for the plug. When packing your electronic items for travel, please review the converter electric current level to make sure it is the same or greater than the items you are planning on using. If you plan on utilizing or transporting a sleep apnea machine, please remember to pack an extension cord and adapter plug to ensure proper function.

The electricity in Europe is 220 Volts.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing our airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at pre-scheduled times.

*The changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace is not held every day. When it is not available, a stop will still be made at the Palace. **The Palace of Holyroodhouse may occasionally be closed when the Queen is in residence or for official state functions.

Air passengers will arrive and depart from London airports. On day 10, all transfers will depart from Stratford-upon-Avon for London airports.

Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

Due to transfer scheduling, flights on the last day of your tour should be scheduled after 11:30 a.m.
